  Dressing for Success at SEED Harlem

  By selecting to attend SEED Harlem Middle School, students and families have chosen to be part of a community that values professionalism, unity, and excellence. Our school uniform reflects our pride, our respect for ourselves and others, and our commitment to creating a focused learning environment.

  While specific guidelines are outlined below, it is important that students understand and follow not only the rules, but the spirit and standards of professional dress.

   

  Uniform Expectations

  SEED Harlem is a uniform school, and all students are expected to be in full uniform every day. Our uniform reflects the high standards of our school and prepares students to present themselves professionally—both now and in the future.

  Shirts

  • Grades 6 & 7: Must wear the official SEED Harlem teal-colored golf shirt.
  • Grade 8: May choose to wear either the official teal or the official gray SEED Harlem golf shirt.
  • New Students: Will receive two complimentary uniform shirts.
  • 8th Grade Students: Will receive one complimentary gray shirt.
  • Logos: This year, we are introducing a new SEED Harlem logo. Students may wear shirts with either the old or new logo.

  Pants

  • Students must wear black or khaki slacks (no joggers, cargo pants, jeans, leggings, or sweatpants).
  • Pants must be worn at the waist and be clean, neat, and professional in appearance.
  • Pants are not provided by the school and should be purchased from a vendor of your choice.

  Sweatshirts

  • Only the school-sanctioned sweatshirt, which will be distributed later this year, is permitted.
  • All other sweatshirts, hoodies, or outerwear are not allowed to be worn inside the school building.

  Accessories & Head Coverings

  • Accessories should be simple and consistent with the professional spirit of the uniform.
  • Head coverings are permitted only for religious reasons.
  • The following items are not permitted inside the building:
    • Bandanas
    • Scarves
    • Bonnets
    • Hats
    • Durags
    • Hoods of any kind

  Uniform Non-Compliance

  Students who arrive at school out of uniform may:

  • Be required to change or call home for proper attire.
  • Be issued a uniform loaner item, if available.
  • Receive a uniform violation notice.
  • Be subject to follow-up from school staff.
